"Every man who holds a sword in his hand, holds murder in his heart"
From the very first chapter, I immersed myself in a world where nothing is as it seems at first glance. The author used the theme "in the north there is a separating evil from the rest of our country", namely with a barrier about which there are rumors that it is slowly but surely collapsing and will soon let anci... číst celéent evil in between. The main character Davian, an aspiring mage studying at the university, is typical of his kind. His friend Wirr is exactly the type of character who will never stop being loyal. The only female character, Asha, has clearly undergone the most realistic transformation during the course of the story, and the character is shrouded in a mystery that will probably surround her in the upcoming works as well. And lastly, we have Caeden, who wakes up covered in blood alone in the forest and doesn't remember anything. He gradually begins to unravel his past and find out what actually happened. It is Caeden's storyline and the point of his story that makes this book an unforgettable affair for me. The story is full of twists and turns (taking place in three plot links that converge somewhere and diverge somewhere) and with some characters the reader cannot be sure on which side of the barricade they actually stand. It is not the easiest read, the whole first part is a mystery and the author really won with the history and mystery of his world. If you don't let those 677 pages put you off, you will surely be rewarded.
