On the Hunt is a leisurely retelling of Beauty and the Beast connected to the theme of the Firebird fairy tale. The author replaced all the cuteness known and loved by all Disney characters with the cruelty of winter in the forest of an unnamed empire. At first it was a little difficult for me (the introduction seems too long), but later I realized that it was absolutely necessary to flesh out Beauty's lasting character and relationships with her sisters. I agree with the opinion that the Pacifiers with Animal feelings was a great idea. The story is exciting and with all the magical creatures, fairy tales and curses it is sure to captivate. The author knows how to choose the right words so that the reader feels the atmosphere of the snowy forest and the sting of winter in his nose. The book itself is definitely not bad, but the plot itself just didn't sit well with me. I was expecting a classic fairy tale with a new, novel and original idea, but involving Tsareviches (Russia) and barons (England) is like mixing water with oil. And if you read the Lunar Chronicles or The Court of Thorns and Roses before that, you simply cannot help but be disappointed. Compared to the rest of the text, the ending seemed a little rushed to me, and the final epilogue disappointed me a lot. Anyway, the idea that we are probably all secretly looking for our firebird is very nice to me.
